Educational Objectives
Program in Technology Management
Development of high technology industries has been important in all developed countries. Taiwan has been in the mainstream of recent developments, and has a continuing need for specialists in technology management, which Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) attempts to meet. After evaluating the faculty members and facilities of all the colleges of CJCU, the College of Management was designated to run the bachelor degree Program in Technology Management, which was established in October 2008, and recruited its first 45 students in the academic year of 2009. At present, the TM program has four regular grades, each with one class.
This program aims to develop skills and a well-rounded personality appropriate for hi-tech industry management. Content includes a general knowledge of technology industries, innovation, R&D management, management skills, legal affairs, religions and cultures. With this training, graduates possess the abilities to drive the development of high technology industries and to increase the competitiveness of the individual, the industry and the country.
The goals of the program are as follows:
1. Incubating hi-tech management-related talents
2. Training students to have global perspectives
3. Increasing students’ English proficiency
4. Increasing the employability of students
Features of TM
As CJCU was founded in the Name of Christ, graduate personality development is a primary concern. The course program covers six dimensions: personality education, professional education, language education, general knowledge education, creative and innovative education and physical education.
The professional education is designed to teach high-tech management skills, in three main areas:
- Innovation and technology management
- New product development and project management
- Operation and quality management
The training should enable students: 1) to lead the operation and development of technology industries; 2) to manage the innovation and R&D processes in technology industries; 3) to have insights into future trends and opportunities in technology industries; and 4) to conform to business ethics.
The TM program aims to serve corporations in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, including the electro-optical, biotechnology, digital content, and precision machinery industries, as well as transformed or transforming traditional industries. The TM program also expects graduates to be competitive internationally, and able to serve technological industries overseas.
With excellent faculty members from the College of Information and Engineering, College of Health Sciences, College of Theology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Liberal Education, we are very confident of the quality of our technology management skills training.
Developmental Orientation
CJCU is located in the center of the electronics manufacturing and processing area in southern Taiwan and near to the Tainan Science and Industry Park, the Tainan Technology and Industry Park, the Lu Chu Science and Industry Park, the Greater Kaohsiung Multi-Functional Economy area, the Software Science Park, the Air Cargo Services Park and the Free Trade Zone. CJCU provides students with frequent interactions with locally based corporations, ranging from practical training visits and placements, to long-term employment after graduation.
The TM Program at CJCU developed its curriculum on the basis of the core values of hi-tech industries, such as innovation, R&D, management, information and intellectual property.
Overall, the program courses include creative thinking, R&D management, production management, human resources, supply chain management, customer relations management, finance, marketing, law for science and technology, intellectual property management, etc.
The TM Program expects to train hi-technology managers for hi-tech industries, locally, nationally and internationally.
