Introduction to department of EMAT:
The Department of Engineering and Management of Advanced Technology (EMAT) at CJCU, established in 2002, is one of Southern Taiwan’s most professional institutes integrating teaching and research in the areas of electronic & computer engineering (ECE) and technology management. To promote personal and professional success, the department offers an undergraduate program, combining an education in ECE with the essentials of technology management, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. This addresses industry's need for engineers with strong additional background in management. The EMAT degree course is well suited to individuals who want a broad exposure to ECE combined with marketing, human resource management, project management and team working.
This integrated program has the following advantages:

2. More rapid progression to senior management positions in their future careers.

Undergraduate Program:
Number of credits required for bachelor's degree: 128 credits
- Common required courses by University (29credits)
- Required courses by the Department (48 credits)
- Elective courses (no less than 51 credits)
The degree program is an accredited engineering degree program by IEET (Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan) that is a signatory in Washington accord. Therefore, graduates of the degree program are recognized as having met the academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering for most of countries in the world. The program also provides a 2+2 Joint Dual-degree program with Queensland University of Technology in Australia that is needed to be applied additionally.
Curriculum:
The undergraduate program is designed to prepare the students with the fundamentals, as well as the advanced knowledge that suits students' particular interest. At the entry level, the students are expected to complete the fundamentals of ECE and technology management through the required courses in years one and two. At the intermediate level, the students are required to select elective courses of their interest. These elective courses provide the students with slight depth into the areas of robotics, embedded systems, control systems, computer hardware/software, internet of things, big data, and technology management. And, the elective courses are grouped into three course modules as below:
1) Development of Robots;
2) Applications of Internet of Things(IoT);
3) Analysis of big data
