About Us
As science and culture progresses and develops, the risk of fire and explosion hazard also increases. Take the recent events as examples: the large-scaled injury by fire in a playground, the gas explosion under municipal streets, and the industrial fire which destroy all around.
People now acknowledge the importance of fire-fighting and safety. Based on the social responsibility, the main goal of this program is to foster the professional on fire-fighting and safety. The students can option the knowledges of fire-/hazard prevention techniques, practical fire-fighting management, or investigation on fire-scene, depend on their own interest. For the students who are interested in the industrial application, this program also provides an academic module for double major on industrial safety management. This effort will provide the students with a broader occupational opportunity. This program emphasizes on both theory and practice, and will encourage the students to obtain a certificate on fire-fighting or industrial safety, and enhance their competitive strength in future career.
The establishment of this Bachelor program is based on the cooperation of the following units under the School of Health Science: Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Occupational Safety, Health and Medicine Research Center, and Occupational, Environmental and Food Safety Research Center. The cooperation includes teaching, research staffs, and equipment. The research topics are developed with fire-fighting organizations, domestic and international research institutes and enterprises. Above-mentioned cooperation provides students a multi-disciplinary study environment and a variety of opportunities for practice. Those effort will create excellent human resources and services required by the society.
