About

Department Highlights

  • The program, founded in 1996, is the first department of mass communication in South Taiwan, featuring rich experiences and maintaining steady growth.

  • The only department of mass communication in South Taiwan with a physical radio station.

  • The program offers on-campus internship opportunities and platforms for traditional and new media and print, as well as electronic media, thereby facilitating education via knowledge-action integration.

  • Courses are designed with the idea of “learning while doing,” which actively combines theory and practice.

  • The department provides diverse opportunities for off-campus internships in media, helping graduates successfully enter the job market.

  • Opportunities are available for international student exchange programs so our students can learn overseas, with current partners in the United States, Canada, France, Austria, Czech, Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong. International opportunities expand students’ international views and facilitate cultural learning experiences.

What Makes the Program Unique?

  1. We target industrial trends of integrating mass media, information, and communication in the age of digital convergence, which helps students achieve greater success in the job market.

  2. We implement modularized courses related to professional learning and knowledge in the fields of news broadcasting, public relations and advertising, and audio and video to cultivate cross-field talent.

  3. We hire world-class faculty and work with on-campus and off-campus media institutions for internships, thereby making students more competitive on the job market and in their careers.

  4. We provide opportunities for international student exchanges and international cooperation in movies and television, which expand students' international views and improve their linguistic abilities.

  5. We hire instructors from the field—their rich, hands-on experiences acquaint students with the industry and improve their employment competence.

  6. We are the very first and most renowned department of mass communication in South Taiwan with countless outstanding graduates.

Prospects after Graduation - Five advantages

Hands-on and effective career development leads to job opportunities in diverse fields

Learning in the program is based on cross-field integration, which is just one feature of the Department of Mass Communication, CJCU in teaching. Our graduates have the competitive edge as cross-field "omni-media" professional talents. Our graduates land successful careers in diverse fields, including news, public relations, advertising, audio and video, and internet communication.

We have a great reputation in the industry through successful internships and employment opportunities for our students

Our graduates receive excellent reviews and are recognized in the industry. After completing their internships, our students often rise to the top in the units where they were placed and commonly receive job offers after graduation.

Our alumni and senior-level students mentor and advise newer students.

More than two decades after the department was established, there are now nearly 3000 alumni, many of whom are enjoying highly successful careers in their chosen field. Many of our graduates also work as supervisors in media, forming a large independent resource network of interconnecting and related fields. These successful graduates provide tremendous social resources and relations for current students in the department. Our graduates are a precious asset to the Department, providing strong employment support for newer students.

Admission to domestic higher education and scaling new heights

The Department has embraced the spirit of "knowledge-action integration," teaching both theory and practice.
