Academic Achievement Awards for Outstanding Performance in the Taiwan Scholarship Program
I. Purpose
These regulations are established to encourage Taiwan Scholarship recipients to strive for academic excellence and to reward outstanding achievement.
II. Application eligibility
1.Bachelor’s degree students who have attained a conduct score of 80 percent or above for the previous two semesters. Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP) students who have had no absences in the previous two quarters / terms (other than for serious illnesses or special circumstances). Students who have not faced any disciplinary action in the previous two semesters (quarters / terms).
2.Have met the qualification requirements for the Taiwan Scholarship at the time of application.
3.The applicant must be currently enrolled.
4.Academic performance requirements
(1) Doctoral degree students
Have completed qualifying exams and obtained the status of a doctoral candidate and have published at least one paper (the same paper may not be used for repeat applications). Papers must be published in a journal with a formal review mechanism and the applicant must be the first author or have proof of acceptance.
(2)Master’s degree students
Have attained an average score of 90 or above for the previous two semesters.
(3)Bachelor’s degree students
(a)Have earned at least 15 credits in each of the previous two semesters; fourth-year students must have earned at least nine credits.
(b)Attained average score of 90 or above in previous two semesters.
5.Showed other exceptional talents or skills or made outstanding service contributions.
III. Number of awards
Twenty awards will be granted each semester. In principle, there will be five awards for LEP students, 10 awards for bachelor’s degree students, and five awards for master’s degree and doctoral degree students.
IV. Award details
Recipients will receive a certificate and an academic achievement award of NT$20,000.
