Cultural Diversity
Culture is a strong aspect of people's lives which influences the way we view, value, believe, and hope, and affect our humour, loyalties, vexation, and perhaps our agitation. Seminar on Sustainable Development gave me a chance to explore different cultures. It is important to remember how much we have in common, however we view the world differently.
I was shocked, afraid, and amused when my classmates shared their cultures. All that signifies the vitalness of culture. People were happy when presenting their cultures. It proved that it is of vital importance to not lose your roots of life. Unity is brought by cultural ceremonies like the Paiwan rice harvest ceremony, as well as our incwala dance (the prayer and the first crop harvest of the nation in Swaziland).
If I wasn't Swazi, what would I be? That scares me! So, culture brings identity. Each cultural group has unique strengths, way of life, and perspectives from which the larger community can benefit. Those diverse ideas, customs, and wisdom can help the world solve problems and enrich community life.
Let's welcome everyone, knowing we are nothing less or more important than the next person. Respect other people's decision, and learn and adopt the good habits from others.
