The department has been planning and taking students to Japan for a 2 to 4 week summer language study tour in Japan: Tokyo, Okinawa, Osaka, Kyoto, and Oita since 1994. In addition to substantial Japanese language courses, students have the opportunity to experience the rich traditions and long history of the Japanese culture, to cultivate a liberal international outlook and improve the level of language, so that they can profoundly understand the cultural differences between the two countries.
Okinawa Christian University, Nagano University and Handan Women's Junior College arranges students to visit our school during the summer vacation; Takushoku University, Nagasaki Methodist University and Osaka International University select students to study in our school for one year. All students in this department can participate in volunteer service, receive and visit Japanese students, and mutually promote language exchanges between students.
In 2006, the university initiated a student exchange program to Japan. It promotes outstanding students to go and study abroad; Each year, students from our school’s international office go to Takushoku University, Nagasaki Methodist University, Osaka International University, Kumamoto University, Nagano University, and Niigata University for a period of six months or one year. For the academic year, the exchange students only pay for the school’s tuition fees (some schools need to pay for the accommodation fee on the day of arrival), and do not need to pay the tuition fees for studying in the country. In addition, they can apply for scholarships from the school, from the Ministry of Education or from the exchange association to reduce the economic burden of studying in Japan.
The department has already negotiated a 4+2 academic system with the International Tourism Division of the Heian Girl Women's University in Kyoto, Japan. As long as you are a graduate of this department and you have studied for at least 2 years in the International Tourism Division of the university, it is expected that two university degrees will be available within six years. Not only do academic qualifications improve one’s Japanese language ability and broaden their horizons, but also they can help future career advancement and employment. Another negotiation with the school is currently underway for the 3+2 academic system; as long as one is studying in this department for 3 years and still studying in the school's International Tourism Division, after studying for 2 years (credits taken in Japan can also be returned to Taiwan for discretionary credits), you will be able to obtain a university degree from both universities, effectively shortening your years of studies, and help students enter the workplace as early as possible.
