Graduation Threshold of English Competence
English Graduation Benchmark Policy
1. To enhance students’ English proficiencies at CJCU, the Language Education Center implements the English benchmark policy for graduation for undergraduate students of CJCU.
2. This policy does not apply to foreign students whose official language of their country of origin is English, nor does it apply to students holding proofs of disability.
3. To pass the English graduation benchmark, students are required to pass one of the standardized English proficiency tests prior to graduation, with a score that meets the requirements described in the following tables. Or, students may choose to take and pass the 36-hour zero-credit English supplementary course. Should they choose the latter, students need to apply and pay for the course before the registration deadline.
l The following requirement is applicable to students enrolled at CJCU after 2014 academic year.

(2) Students who manage to register the positive result for the English graduation benchmark before the 1st day of the spring (or the 2nd) semester are eligible to receive their degree certificate of that academic year.
5. The assessment criteria may vary according to requirements of respective departments. The assessment criteria drafted on the General Regulation of Enrollment are effective immediately after the approval of the Academic Affairs Meeting.
6. If a respective department sets their own assessment criteria for the English benchmark policy for graduation, the respective department has to review the results of their own students.
7. This policy has been approved of by the executive meeting and university assembly. This policy is effective upon the approval of the president of the university. The same procedure will follow upon revision.
