Under the trend of globalization, Taiwan’s industries are facing the pressure of transformation and upgrading. It is imperative to discover and cultivate promising new industries as the driving force for economic growth in the future. Due to the completeness of our basic network environment and the maturity of the information technology industry, the application of information technology to enhance people’s quality of life and create a smart living environment is an area of potential for the future. At present, the government's "愛台十二建設" is to create "Smart Taiwan", which is to allow Taiwan to enjoy science and technology to bring convenience and a happy life under the basis of excellent science and technology.
In fact, the smart life has now become the global future development industry. The world's major countries, science and technology corporations have combined with technology and communications to create more convenient and easy-to-use emerging services, and become a new dynamic in economic development. Although the government is currently vigorously promoting the technology strategy for smart living, the Ministry of Education also hopes to nurture talents in the smart-living industry through the "智慧生活整合性人才培育計畫," but this still can not meet the strong demand for talent in this field. At present, there are few departments in which tertiary institutions set up such studies. We have established Bachelor's Degree Program of Smart Life Application and will be the first higher education system and the first degree program in this field in southern Taiwan.
The goal of the program is to nurture talents with smart living designs and applications. We will use the core technologies needed for smart living:Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis planning related courses to train students in the required technology;On the basis of this technology, we also add elements of design and application. We hope to design innovative services through technology and creativity to create applications for technology in smart living.
The current curriculum plans three modules: the artificial intelligence modules develop students' ability to develop artificial intelligence programs;the internet of things module will train students to have internet of things applications and data analysis capabilities;the innovative application module cultivates students' ability to apply and integrate innovative and intelligent technologies. The planning direction of this program is in line with the development trend and needs of the society. After graduation, the students will be able to enter the workplace as programmers, IoT engineers, artificial intelligence engineers, UI/UX designers, and data analysts.
