Opening Ceremony of Yunus Social Business Center CJCU (CTnews)

The 1st in South Taiwan and the 2nd in the country, the "Chang Jung Christin University Yunus Social Business Center" set up in the name of Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was unveiled this morning at CJCU. The ceremony announced the official operation of the "Yunus Social Business Center" established by CJCU for the implementation of social responsibility.
Dr. Yunus’s long-term commitment to improving the situation of the poor has caused huge repercussions around the world. Dr. Yunus and his Grameen Bank, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. In recognition of his efforts to “promote economic and social development from the bottom of society”, he has successfully demonstrated to the world that it is feasible to achieve specific social goals and solve social problems through social business.
CJCU cooperated with the center to unveil the brand, and specially made the "Yusus Chair" in the campus, highlighting the spirit and philosophy of Dr. Yunus, designed by the teacher of the Department of Fine Arts, Ting-Fang Li, and produced together with the students, the design concept according to a saying that Dr. Yunus once said, “When a tiny thing has been done a million times, it becomes a big event.” The production process uses many small wooden blocks and is assembled into a large bench with simple wood. The material of the Yunus chair also represents the concept of shared with others.
Yong-Long Li, the president of CJCU, said that social business have always been the subject of school attention. The Innovation Incubation Center has also continued to promote the cultivation of social business through the Ark co. Ltd. This time, cooperated with the Yunus Center in Bangladesh and the Yunus Foundation in Taiwan to establish YSBC. The Yunus Social Business Centre will promote the concept of social enterprise through education and training, further implement the school's social responsibility and sustainable development goals, and become an important promoter of cultivating talents in Taiwan's social business.
Yu-Jie Lin, dean of the School of Management, pointed out that the establishment of the YSBC will also hold a selection of social business proposals, select five college students from the national, and finally select two people who will be able to travel to Bangladesh free of charge and face-to-face with Dr. Yunus. The other three students can also get a bonus.
