CJCU Set up “Yunus Social Business Center Chang Jung Christian University"

President Young-Long Li led Dean of School of Management Jei-Yu Lin, and several supervisors visited the Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan on November 28th and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Foundation. The two side will establish the second in Taiwan and the first in South Taiwan “Yunus Social Business Center Chang Jung Christion University”. Expecting integrate the teaching and research resources of the University, provide specific management suggestion for social enterprise operations, promote the concept of social business and achieve the goal of solving social problems.

In 2006, Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank he founded jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition the effort of their “promoting economic and social development from the bottom of society”. Dr. Yunus’s effort to improve the situation of the poor for more than 30 years have begun to attract widespread attention and respond in all walks of life. They have also successfully prove to the world that social business can achieve specific social goals and solve social problems. The purpose of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business was based on the theory of Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Yunus, promoting social business in Taiwan, cultivating social business talents, and establishing social business partners, and practicing Dr. Yunus’s ”zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon”. President Li visited this time and discussed with the chairmen Huei-ling Cai and the executive director of the Foundation, on the concept and development of social business and the direction of future cooperation.

Chang Jung Christian University is a university established in the name of Jesus Christ. Combine “all-around education” and “life education” promote the spirit of fraternity of Christ. Our University take the education as social responsibility, hoping each student we had teach could become a seed of social justice and spread the idea and action of social justice to the community, environment and even every corner on the world. Therefore, social business have always been the focus of the school. The Innovation Incubation Center of the school has continued to promote the cultivation of social business through the social business Ark co. Ltd. The CJCU and the Yunus Center in Bangladesh cooperated with the Foundation for Yusnus Business Center Taiwan to establish the "Yunus Social Business Center" in the school, further fulfill the school's social responsibility and sustainable development goals.
