The Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) CJCU Chapter at the College of Management from CJCU nominated the alumnus from the PhD Program in Business and Operations Management, Chairman Wei-Jen Chen from Syngen Biotech Co., Ltd., for the 2024 BGS Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. We recently received the exciting news: on March 16, BGS officially informed that Chairman Wei-Jen Chen has been selected as the "2024 Entrepreneurial Achievement Award Winner." He is the first entrepreneur nominated from a Taiwanese AACSB-accredited business school to receive this prestigious global honor since the first establishment of the BGS chapter in Taiwan.
Dr. Wei-Jen Chen is the Chairman of Syngen Biotech Co., Ltd. and earned his PhD in Business and Operations Management from the College of Management at CJCU in 2019. Chairman Chen has held several key positions in promoting Taiwan's healthcare industry, including serving as an Executive Advisor to the Executive Yuan, President of the Taiwan Functional Food Industry Association(TFIA), and President of the Taiwan Biotechnology Industry Alliance, etc. In these roles, he has acted as a crucial bridge between the industry and the government, helping to advance national pharmaceutical policies. According to the evaluation criteria for the BGS Entrepreneurial Achievement Award, Chairman Chen was recognized for his adherence to business ethics and his outstanding leadership style, which align perfectly with the core values of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma. This award honors Chairman Chen's remarkable achievements in entrepreneurship and sustainable business management.
The International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) was founded in the United States in 1913 and is an international academic honor society in the field of business and management. Only about 5% of business schools worldwide, which are AACSB-accredited, are eligible to establish a BGS chapter, making it one of the highest academic honors that business students can receive globally. The College of Management at CJCU was officially accredited by AACSB in April 2021 and established the BGS CJCU Chapter the same year, becoming the first university in southern Taiwan to establish the BGS chapter. This milestone provides more resources and opportunities for students to connect internationally and broaden their global perspectives.
