International scholar Prof. Boyd H Davis gave a speech
In recent years, the problem of dementia has been a topic of health care, and the use of information systems to assist in the detection and care of dementia is a research trend in recent years. Therefore, in November 2011, the department invited Prof. Boyd H Davis to give a speech for the junior students of the department. Because Prof. Davis was old, this speech was conducted online, with Professor Yung Gi Wu as the interpreter. The title of the speech is "IT and dementia: highlights from assessment to caregiving-- and why YOU are involved". Prof. Davis conducted her speech from the population of dementia in Taiwan, dementia symptoms, how to assess dementia? What technologies can help people with dementia? How does the information help caregivers? After the speech, the students were divided into groups to discuss the topics given by Prof. Davis, and after the discussion, each group made a short presentation to everyone. Prof. Davis said that the students' opinions were very creative, and the students were excited to hear the speeches of foreign scholars, and expressed great interest in the content of the speeches and the way of interaction at the end.
