Sustaining the Indigenous Culture - Joint Schools Indigenous Multicultural Learning Courses

The CJCU Indigenous Student Resource Center held a Indigenous Multicultural Learning Visit by participating in the 1 day career development talk, the indigenous handicrafts course and the "Cahamu Sunset Concert" at the Zhahamu Indigenous Park in Anping District, Tainan City. After the activity ended, the students participated in the community service-learning by cleaning the park and the surroundings. The visit became more lively through the service-learning.
The indigenous career talk, handicrafts course, concert and the other activities that encourage the employment of indigenous people are organized by the Workforce Development Agency Ministry of Labor (Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Regional Branch) and co-organized by Far East University and Chang Jung Christian University. The director general of the YCT Branch, Mr Ke, Cheng-Gang said that the indigenous career talk was held inviting the mentor from the Tainan Human Resources Association to carry out career analysis for the indigenous people to let them know the possibility of self-career development. In addition, the activity had a breakthrough. Through holding concert and combining the indigenous market, they let the public discover the attitude and spirits of indigenous employees and explore their potential of employment and entrepreneurship. The site also provided employment consulting services for the public.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Chen, Shu-Lee said that our school is emphasizing and actively promoting the Morality and Life Education in the recent years. Through visits to let the stuff and stundents learn about indigenous multi-culture and life ethics, combining community services to understand more about the importance of indigenous sustainable education.
The Zhahamu Indigenous Park was established by the Tainan City Government in 2004. The indoor clubhouse is used for research & study and as a displaying space while at the outdoor park there are indigenous art scenery, cultural square, watchtower and a pavilion with Tsou featured architectures. A lot of dynamic activities are regularly conducted annually such as the Tsou Day, Music Festival and the Zhahamu Market. Static and dyamic activities are conducted simultaneously to gather the indigenous spirits in the city.
