The program aims to change the traditional way of orchid plantation. We aim to increase the value of the orchid industry by using biotechnology to develop orchid cosmetic and health products. The program is also looking forward to the cooperation with University of Malaya. Through this, students will have global view, understand cultures in other countries, and be equipped with global marketing competence. 　

Our Primary Concern is to Increase Students’ Orchid Product Development Ability

Currently, there are only less than five programs in Taiwan that study orchid. The focus of those programs is often in the biotechnology field. They often neglect the development of talents in marketing and innovation. However, for the orchid businesses inside and outside of Taiwan, planting and growing breeds of orchid is not a problem. There is a need to research and develop orchid-related products, such as mosquito repellants and health products.

The orchid industry also needs marketing talents in the industry. Because of this, Bachelor Degree Program of Orchid Industry Application will be cooperation between Department of Bioscience Technology and Department of Innovation Application and Management in the university. The Department of Bioscience Technology will focus on the research and development of orchid products; whereas the Department of Innovation Application and Management will focus on marketing orchid products. Through the cooperation, it is expected to develop industries related to the orchid industry and create economy value in the orchid industry.
