A joint security patrol team by CJCU, the police, and the neighborhood is formed to create a safe campus environment
CJCU teamed up with the police and the neighborhood for the joint patrol efforts to ensure the safety on and off campus. In addition to one military instructor on duty, two additional military instructors and two security guards joined the task force of night patrols between 18:00 and 02:00 with the neighborhood and the police. The original joint night patrols conducted by Datan Community and Wudong Community also prolonged their patrol hours for expanded areas and frequencies. CJCU and the police reached the consensus to keep each other informed of any suspect and education for faculties and students towards security was also promoted to prevent from crimes and tragic losses.
CJCU collaborates with the police and neighborhood to create a safe community environment
To comprehensively strengthen campus and community safety, President of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Dr. Yung-Lung Lee, instructed that CJCU will expand the campus safety mechanism in collaboration with the police and community representatives to hold regular joint meetings and make the efficient use of resources to acquire International Safe Community Certification recognized by the World Health Organization as the development goal. The purpose of this certification is to identify and protect the vulnerable group in the community through multilateral cooperation, the monitoring and improvement of security incidents, and the safety promotion plan. CJCU hopes that the aim of acquiring International Safe Community Certification can be recognized and supported by organizations and agencies in the community to create a safe community environment.
CJCU hands out personal emergency alarms to strengthen the safety of students and faculties
In order to protect the students and faculties, Chang Jung Christian University(CJCU) handed out personal emergency alarms to students and faculties starting from November 2nd for the use to call for help during emergency and to improve situational awareness. According to Secretary General of CJCU, Guan Mei Yan, campus safety was the first priority and in additional to the distribution of personal emergency alarms, now CJCU re-examined its security reporting mechanism on campus, closely worked with the police, upgraded safety facilities, and teamed up for joint security patrols during night time on campus and in the surrounding area.
The Night Stay at School Mechanism and Help Button Launched by CJCU for a Safer Campus
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) actively collaborated with the neighborhood and the police to raise the safety awareness of students and faculties for creating a safe learning environment. Campus security seminars for each college started this week and briefings were made to President, Lee Yung-Lung, who said students need to apply for a permission after 10 p.m. for their night stay on campus and night patrol personnel will then check and record the information. Besides, CJCU closed the motorcycle park gateway at 12 p.m. and opened it at 5:30 a.m. from the 10th and a fence was also set around the softball court for tighter entrance control.
The Optimized CJCU's Application: “Ask Hu Pi Question” with More Security Functions
The “Ask Hu Pi Question” app researched and developed by the Computer & Network Center of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU)was optimized with more security functions including relevant information display by clicking on the icon of “emergency contact” or entering keywords such as “sos,” “campus security,” and “help.” When a question is posed on the Hu Pi, an initiator will be directly connected to the “Student Q&A” meanwhile, an email will be also sent to responsible offices to start the reporting mechanism without any delay. Additionally, the direct dial function to the “Campus Security Emergency Hotline” and “Datan Police Station” via cell phone and the support service to download “110 Video Reporting” app of the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior were added. Students and faculties were advised to use the optimized app to report problems of street lighting in the neighborhood for timely repair.
A discussion led by deputy mayor of Tainan, Hsu Yu-Ding, on Campus and City Safety at CJCU
Deputy Mayor of Tainan, Hsu Yu-Ding, led his cabinet to Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) on the 4th to discuss on campus and city safety and during the meeting, CJCU proposed the initiative to improve lighting facilities on and off campus. The School of Safety and Health Sciences of CJCU also suggested the concept of the “Great Campus” via cooperation among the police, the neighborhood, and universities that has been accepted by Deputy Mayor Hsu for the provision of better campus security network to build Tainan City into a safer city for students and residents. According to Assistant Professor of the School, Chuang Chi-You, who cited the theory of broken windows, suggested to enhance “campus security” to “public safety” by building safety awareness to overcome fear after the incident of tragic loss. CJCU holds campus security awareness forums
To raise the safety awareness, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) held campus security forums for each college from November 11th starting from the College of Management and the School of Fine Arts. Dr. Lee Yung-Lung, the President of CJCU, said that the mid-term goals for campus security are to pave idled lands and adopt the off-campus green fields through discussions with governmental agencies. The long-term goal is to collaborate with the police and the neighborhood to acquire the International Safe Community Certification. CJCU will continue to work on systemic environmental planning and focus on night safety. Students and faculties were advised to watch for their own safety and ask for assistance from the Security Guard Room when necessary.
Roots & Shoots Animal Parade and Alliance District Activity of Erren River in Rend on Nov. 21
Roots & Shoots Animal Parade and Alliance District Activity of Erren River, co-supervised by the Environmental Protection Bureau and the Education Bureau f the Tainan City Government is to be held between 13:00 and 16:00 in Rende District on November 21st with the invited participation of 700 students from 15 schools in six districts of Tainan including Longci, Guangmiao, Guiren, Rende, Eastern, and Southern. Under the theme of environmental issues in Erren River Basin, this event will feature fun challenge games, sales of local produce, green life promotions, exhibition of Dr. Barclay, and music performance.
A thanksgiving worship for the 27th anniversary of CJCU
On November 16th, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) held the 27th anniversary thanksgiving worship under the theme of gratitude, introspection and redecision to show dedication to God. Pastor Abus Takisvilainan was invited to make a speech and he emphasized that CJCU is the place to ignite human spirit. To commemorate the victim student, CJCU especially invited her friends to sing and bless through the bible at the worship ceremony. President of CJCU, Dr. Yung-Lung Lee, said that CJCU will always put campus safety first with a proactive attitude to make CJCU better. Additionally, CJCU used the Shenhsing Bell model as the symbol of lighting up the campus and promoted the white ribbon campaign in support of terminating any forms of violence as an act of giving thanks to God.
More Internationalized CJCU with the Commencement of Global Plaza
Located at the first floor of the Administration Building in Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Global Plaza set up by Office of Global Engagement aims to make CJCU more internationalized through encouragement of more international engagement among students and faculties. Its design focused on simplicity without excessive decoration with the use of a large French window to introduce natural light for better interaction and welcome students and faculties from Taiwan and other countries with open arms. To building a learning environment with cultural and religious tolerance, there is a “Prayer Room” set up on the friendly campus for everyone.
An Intellectual Fitness Center for Heathier Campus in CJCU
In the hope of developing students and faculties’ habit of exercise, the RINGOAL Intellectual Sports System, introduced by Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) and Golden Smart Home Technology Crop., was equipped on the first floor of the Administration Building to incorporate with the “Smart Gym” at the basement level of Dormitory Building 3. This system consisted of eight machines of hydraulic intellectual fitness equipment and various numbers were displayed on the screen during the training process, including training time, frequency, thrust and pull speed, resistance level, and muscle position in training. Additionally, 12 vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and body weight, fat, and temperature were measured by Care3T to allow users to select suitable intellectual exercise programs according to their needs to build muscle, lose weight, or improve sleep.
