Congratulations to CJCU Ranked 401-450 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2021
On November 25th, 2020, the British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the QS Asia University Rankings 2021 and Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) was ranked as #401-450 for the first time proving that CJCU’S great effort and performance has been highly recognized internationally. The QS Asia University Rankings 2021 include 11 indicators and CJCU was ranked on the top 250 in five indicators: Faculty/student ratio, Proportion of international faculty, Proportion of international students, Proportion of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students. CJCU espoused internationalization by promoting international reputation, exchanges, and competitiveness to build itself into a top internationalized Christian university.
CJCU wins 2 awards at the 2nd National Enterprise Environmental Protection Award
After winning Nomination Awards for the 1st National Enterprise Environment Protection Award held by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) last year, this year, Chang Jung Christian University consecutively won two awards: National Enterprise Environmental Protection Silver Awards and new Green Action Awards. CJCU promoted the sustainable development in various way such as the application of e-learning, the use of electronic documents, the promotion of plastic reduction by the campus “Ark’s Cafe” and the implementation of practical eco-sustainability action by International Jane Goodall’s Roots & shoots Eco-Center. In addition, protection works of Erren River and pursuit of Jane Goodall’s roots and shoots spirit were achievements recognized by the judges of Green Action Awards.
CJCU wins gold and bronze awards at the 2020 TCSA
The result of the 2020 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) was announced on November 18th and Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) won gold and bronze awards respectively for Best Sustainability Project Awards – University of the Best Practice Award and Corporate Sustainability Report Award. CJCU’s practices of university social responsibilities including “ecological justice”, “common good in community”, “care of vulnerable groups”, “related party communication mechanism” were highly recognized. CJCU actively played its role in advocating ecological justice by realizing the core value of green sustainability, integrating classroom learning and actual practices, and developing value of ecological sustainability of students and faculties.
CJCU’s Ranking on GreeMetric World University Improved by 44 Places and 1,025 Points
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) was ranked 133rd, moving up 44 places better than last year, for the 2020 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings among 912 universities from 84 countries. Among 26 listed universities in Taiwan, CJCU was ranked 13th, 2 places better than that of last year, indicating the big improvement and progress made. The 2020 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings include 6 indicators: (1) setting & infrastructure, (2)energy& climate change, (3) waste management, (4) water usage, (5) transportation, and (6) education & research. Out of the total score of 9,700, CJCU scored 7,250, 1,025 higher than that of last year taking up 89th in transportation, 94th in waste management, and 95th in education & research with other global top 100 universities
CJCU’s Winning of the Green Purchasing Awards Three Years in a Row for Fulfilling USR
The Tainan City Government has actively promoted and recognized enterprises for their purchase of domestic green products in recent years. In 2019, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) had purchased 2,047 green products at the approximate purchase amount of NT$180 million and was awarded with the Green Purchasing Awards three years in a row for practicing green purchasing and fulfilling university social responsibility(USR). The 2019 award criteria included purchasing the domestic products with green marks, energy labels, water conservation labels, green building material labels, or carbon labels at a yearly amount of NT$5 million.
CJCU’s River Monitoring Team Wins the Excellence Award at the 2020 World Water Quality Monitoring Competition
The Environmental Protection Bureau of the Tainan City Government held the “2020 Award Ceremony for Meritorious Environmental Volunteers and Environmental Education Units” and River Monitoring Team of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) won the Grade A Award for river conservation volunteer as well as the Excellence Award at the 2020 World Water Quality Monitoring Competition. CJCU’s River Monitoring Team was founded in 2002 by Dr. Ching-Yi, Horng, Associate Professor of Department of Occupational Safety and Health to conserve Erren River with the community. The CJCU team consisted of both Taiwanese and international students, in total of 27, participating in monthly pollution patrol, report, water quality monitor, and educational promotion. Significant achievements were made by linking up the neighborhood and service learning through operations of International BA Program of Sustainable Development and Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Program.
CJCU wins Gold Award of the 2nd DIA
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) won the gold medal for the 2nd Digital Impact Award (DIA) held by the CP Yen Foundation. The purpose of the DIA is to recognize individuals, organizations, and communities for their active promotion for dialogue elements and dialogue strategies, initiation of organizational changes, and facilitation of innovative community. The organizer, the CP Yen Foundation, stated that the Center for Social Empower (COSET) at CJCU through the the participation in this competition, allows the community to understand CJCU’s effort to engage in various innovative communications and dialogue, to play the bridge role between the community and the government, and to contribute greatly to local community development in Kaohsiung. Huang Chao-Hsin, the Director of COSET of CJCU, believed that the Dialogue Impact Award shared the same goal to promote the development of civil society and the award recognition marks a milestone achievement of CJCU’s fulfilling of university social responsibility.
Addition of Aeon E-Motorcycles to Night Patrols at CJCU
On December 9th, Huang Chung-Ming, Board Director of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), and Chung Chieh-Lin, Chairman of Aeon Motor Co., Ltd, jointly donated three Aeon e-motorcycles to the security patrol team of CJCU formed by the police, the neighborhood, and CJCU on November 2nd. E-motorcycles increased both efficiency and standard of security patrol works. At the same time, the Campus Security Office was undergoing restructuring for better mobility and responses. Fence construction around campus was about to be completed. Additionally, e-relief vehicles were now equipped to send those in need to hospital in time.
CJCU invites Dr. Lu Pai to talk on International Safe Community Certification
With the aim to acquire the International Safe Community Certification, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) invited Dr. Lu Pai, the Director of International Safe Community Support Centres and International Safe Schools Certification Centres (ISCSC) as well as the Chair of Asian Coalition of International Safe Community Support Centres (ACISCSC), to talk on International Safe Community and Safe Schools and relevant application. In addition, Ko Kun-Chen, Director of Jinhua Community, Tainan City, whose community was certified twice, also attended the seminar. Dr. Lu Pai stated that the so-called “safe community” is not always “safe.” Instead, residents shall reach the consensus towards safety by utilize both internal and external community resources to reduce accidental or purposive harm and build a safer environment to maintain physical, psychological, social safety.
On-campus internship program: CJCU’s educational greenhouse is officially inaugurated
The Bachelor Degree Program in Orchid Industry Application of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) built an educational greenhouse for students to enhance their practical capabilities in the field. In the future, from tissue culturing, breeding, improving, marketing to cosmetic raw material, all were expected to be done in the educational greenhouse. The greenhouse used automated equipment to automatically adjust the environmental factors and to provide a suitable environment for orchid. The Program was collaborated with Orchid Flouriculturing Inc. to promote vanilla planifolia. Next to the craft beer lab, the Greenhouse was an ideal experimental site for the culture and application of vanilla planifolia.
CJCU holds IF forums to promote the global industry-academia collaboration
To enhance the upgrading of new ventures, construct the technology network communication platform, and promote the global industry-academia collaboration, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) will hold IF forums from November 2020 to December 2021. Dr. Vladimeir Bulović, the Director of MIT.nano, was invited to give the first lecture at CHIMEI Museum on December 2nd. Vladimeir Bulović believed that the value of MIT is to help the world and he hoped that the Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA) with the core of IF platform of CJCU will focus on advanced technology fields and build the industry-academia collaboration platform with the connection of the global market to provide industries with talents and scientific research services. For the welcome party, meals and ice cream were provided by the Ark Café of CJCU and the beverages were served by the Research Center of Craft Fermentation. Additionally, two students of CJCU served as the masters of ceremony and professors of the Department of Translation and Interpretation Studies provided interpretation services to facilitate communications and cooperation.
Taiwan’s First EMBA Program in Golf and Sports Etiquette at CJCU
Collaborating with NanYi Golf Country Club, the Executive Master Of Business Administration (EMBA) Program of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) offered Taiwan’s first course in golf and sports etiquette. ”It enhances the image of EMBA of CJCU,” said Yao-Lin Weng, the CEO of EMBA of CJCU. CJCU is located near the Tainan HSR Station and Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, so the course featured heritage, innovation, surpassing and internationalization to link up to the world with local action. CJCU EMBA first held the Greenway Challenge starting from Taijiang National Park in October, 2020 playing a more significant role than Gobi Challenge held by other business schools. By teaming up with NGEC of CJCU, the win-win CJCU business ecosystem for, innovative startups and second-generation business, the industry, and academia was expected to be developed.
CJCU and KADOKAWA International Edutainment co-host the 2nd Vtuber character design competition
The Innovation Incubation Center of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) and KADOKAWA International Edutainment, co-hosted the competition of 2nd Vtuber character design under the theme of six colleges in CJCU for the second time. In addition to CJCU students, those from Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School (JGHS) and other high schools also participated in the competition. Ji-Ming Luo, the Vice President of KADOKAWA International Edutainment, stated that the number of applications this year was four to five times as many as last year, showing the enthusiasm of the public for animation. Additionally, Ji-Ming Luo told the participants that they should cherish three gifts given to them: passion of animation creation, friends and teachers, and the free and creative environment, for them to unleash the full range of creativity.
