CJCU visits Jinhua Community in Tainan City to head for the International Safe School
In pursuit of the International Safe Community Certification of International Safe School (ISS) recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Huey-Min Sun, Vice President of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), led the team to visit Jinhua Community in Tainan City which was certified twice for practical learning. President of CJCU, Dr. Yung-Lung Lee, stated that the fence around the campus and outdoor emergency button were about to be completed and CJCU will soon be equipped with the integrated control center of intellectual campus.
Official Opening of CJCU Eco-center in Pursuit of Roots & Shoots Spirit of Dr. Jane Goodall
International Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots Eco-center at Chang Jung Christian University was officially open on December 30th, 2020. Under the theme of “Stand with Jane Goodall,”the first exhibition introduced life stories and philosophies of Dr. Jane Goodall to promote the Roots & Shoots spirit, raise environmental awareness of students, tackle with local issues, and speak for animal rights. The Exhibition included five sub-themes: the Life Profile of Dr. Jane Goodall, Research Findings of Chimpanzees, the Roots & Shoots Movement, and Jane Goodall’s Institute of Taiwan and the Establishment of International Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots Eco-Center. There was also an activity area and themed wall in the exhibition area, which was designed to introduce related information about chimpanzees though interactive game board and was decorated with the forest image.
Research Experience Sharing by Outstanding Award Winners about Publication in Internal Journal
The Academic Research Section of Chang Jung Christian University especially invited faculties of outstanding research awards in the previous year to share about their experiences of academic research, paper publication, and project application as the encouragement and assistance to apply research projects in 2021 founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Valuable suggestion and information were offered by Professor Li Meng-Chuan of the Department of Bioscience Technology, Professor Chen Yi-Rui of the Department of Land Management and Development, Professor Chang Hui-Pei of the Bachelor Program of Occupational Safety and Firefighting, and Professor Ding Chi-Feng of the Department of Aviation and Marine Transportation Management respectively on identifying research theme and completing research with limited resources, teamwork, proposal writing and presentation with different colors and fonts, and keys of successful publication in international journal.
From Lecture of International Hall of Fame to Joint Dual-Degree Program: More Internationalized DTIS of CJCU
To cultivate more internationalized and competitive students, the Department of Translation and Interpretation Studies (DTIS) of Chang Jung Christian University invited three professors including Dr. Kayo Matsushita from Rikkyo University, Japan, Dr. Kenny Wang from Western Sydney University(WSU), Australia and Dr. Miranda Lai from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMTI), Australia to give lectures on translation and interpretation. Additionally, in School Year, 2011, the International Program in Translation and Interpreting was scheduled to recruit international and overseas Chinese students and the DTIS also signed a 3+1+1 joint dual-program agreement with the WSU for prospective students to study the first three-year undergraduate courses at CJCU and then continue their 4th year in WSU to acquire the dual bachelor degree from both CJCU and WSU. Prospective students would obtain a master degree from WSU if they choose to continue their one-year master program there. Within five years, they would complete their studies in two bachelor degrees and one master degree with more international competitive advantages.
Environmental Education on Campus: English Green Drawing Book Reading Experience of Students of Datan Elementary School and CJCU
The Da Wu Lun Community Promotion Office of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) teamed up with students from the Bachelor Degree Program in Sustainable Development of USR (University Social Responsibility) to read English green drawing books with kids at nearby Datan Elementary School. Additionally, English camp of green life and food and agriculture education were also taught to elementary students for leaning of diverse culture, environmental awareness, and English proficiencies.
Year-end Thanksgiving Party: Greeting 2021 with Earth Art at Eco-Center of CJCU
On December 30th, 2020, the International Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots Eco-Center of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) held a year-end thanksgiving party to present achievements of International College of Practice and Education for the Environment, to open Jane Goodall Exhibition, to welcome new students of the International Program for Sustainable Development (IPSD), to launch the small wind turbine, and to exchange new year gifts. Dr. Hsin-Chih Lai, Dean of the Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources, said the small wind turbine allows student to acquire skills and experiences for further advancement of next-generation models. With the presentation in the earth art to match with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), coloration with global partners was declared for the better and sustainable life. International students also used wild and herb plants to get to know Taiwan’s edible plants and prepare unique tea snack so as to promote local produce.
The Lantern Painting ”Art Feast“ Held by CJCU in T.S. Dream Mall
The Department of Calligraphy and Painting Arts of Chang Jung Christian University was commissioned by T.S. Dream Mall during the three-day holidays of New Year in T.S. Dream Mall for the “Art Feast,” lantern painting, with 21 tables in three groups. Dream Mall also invited elementary school students and parents to paint lanterns with the guidance and assistance of teachers and students from the Department of Calligraphy and Painting Arts. Participants made their exclusive lanterns under the three themes: "The Year of the Cattle" "Traditional Art," "Fu Cheng Architecture." These lanterns were also scheduled to exhibit at T.S. Dream Mall Plaza on 1F of Hall A2 during the Chinese Lunar New Year.
A joint concert performance facilitates the collaboration between CJCU and high schools
To enhance mutual friendship with high school students and improve performance skills, CJCU held dozens of joint symphony orchestra concerts since 2011 . The concert this year was held at the newly opened Global Plaza of the Office of Global Engagement and National Hsi-Hu Senior High School and National Tainan Second Senior High School were invited to the joint concert. The concert started with Hsi-Hu Senior High School’s woodwind quintet followed by joint wonderful performance of “世界にーつだけの花”(the Only Flower in the World”) and "July March" by two schools. The impressive performance drew long applause.
