Introduction
International Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Eco-Center
In 2012 the world-renowned ecological conservation scholar Dr.Jane Goodall visited Tainan City to participate in an environmental education activity. That was the first time she visited the Erren river and learned about the efforts local groups and our universities river conservation center had taken. Since the University and Jane Goodall’s institute promote the same vision and concept of ecological conservation, we decided to cooperate with each other in promoting ecological education, hoping to achieve a better ecological environment for Taiwan's rivers and streams, and promoting roots and shoots action. Therefore, when Dr.Jane Goodall visited again in 2014, we initiated the long-term cooperation plan of establishing the “International Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Eco-center” and planted a tree of hope at the site of the newly founded ecological center where the spirit of Jane Goodall can sprout and thrive with hope that the young people in Taiwan will create a better world.
In 2015 we signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Jane Goodall institution and set up the preparatory office for the “International Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Eco-center”. In August 2016, the “International Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Eco-center” was officially established under the organization's rules of the University. Belonging to the International College of Practice and Education for the Environment. In 2017, the promotion committee of CJCUs International Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Eco-center was established to formulate the responsibilities of the center’s business, promotion strategy, work coordination, financing, and supervision.
