Animal Parade
Creative use of recycled materials to express human solidarity and kinship with animals.
Roots & Shoots is an environmental education program instigated by the UN peace messenger Dr. Jane Goodall in 1991. It encourages young people to demonstrate care for environment, community, and animals through action.
Roots & Shoots groups based on a whole class or a few individuals act to improve the environment and involve others in its care.
Since 2011, the Jane Goodall Institute has devoted time and effort to the local Roots & Shoots Program in Taiwan with creative art work on ecological issues. They have also invited teachers and students from Roots & Shoots groups to organize an Animal Parade every year to promote animal conservation.
Starting from 2015, Chang Jung Christian University has cooperated with the Jane Goodall Institute and held an Animal Parade in Tainan, which has attracted thousands of participants. Other activities, include ecological art workshops, animal artwork exhibitions, and press conferences involving public pledges on environmental issues.
We invite all children and grown-ups to participate in the Animal Parade and to voice support for animals and the environment.
