CJCU International Samba Drums Team
CJCU International Samba Drum Team
The CJCU International Samba drum team was formed in November, 2017, by the students of the International Program of Sustainable Development. The 20 team members come from Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Swaziland, South Korea, and Italy. They practice hard and bruise their fingers, but they keep going until the routines are perfect.
The Samba musical style is a lively fusion of Brazilian and African culture. The Drum team is in high demand, having been invited to perform in local activities around campus, including:
- Roots and Shoots Animal Parade on December 17, 2017
- The five-year King Boat dedication and setting sail ceremony of Wuan Long temple on January 15, 2018
- The year-end gathering of the Datan community on January 20, 2018
