Article I The Regulations are formulated to encourage outstanding international students to apply for CJCU's doctoral programs and complete their Ph.D. degree at CJCU, and assist them with settling in during their first time living in Taiwan. These programs, thereby, promote CJCU's internationalization.
Article II The international students mentioned in the Regulations refer to students who meet the provisions of the Ministry of Education regulations regarding international students and overseas Chinese students (Hong Kong and Macao students are regarded as overseas Chinese students, not Mainland Chinese students).
Article III Basic application eligibility and review criteria:
- New students/ Freshmen:
Basic application eligibility: Those who meet the CJCU qualifications for international students and have enrolled through the various admissions system of CJCU, excluding transfer students.
Students shall have an English proficiency of at least CEFR B1 level; however, those from English-speaking countries shall not be subjected to this requirement.
Review criteria:
(1)Work and service experiences are in line with the development value of CJCU.
(2)A faculty or member of an alliance unit.
(3)Previously served as an important administrative position in an alliance unit.
(4)Other potentials that are helpful to the development of CJCU.
- Enrolled students:
Basic application eligibility: Having completed one semester of tudy at CJCU. The conduct score in the previous semester shall be 80 points or above, and there shall be no incident of disciplinary action. Must be residing in Taiwan and enrolled in school during the semester of application.
Review criteria:
(1)Academic grades and performances in the previous semester: Reviewed and approved by the Dean of the College of Management, the Chief Executive of the Ph.D. Program in Business and Operations Management,
and the doctoral advisor.
(2)Service performance in the previous semester: The service performance shall be recorded and verified by the respective department of the students. Service content includes activities related to promoting internationalization and the development of CJCU.
(3)For those who are receiving scholarships from the government of Taiwan, CJCU may subsidize the difference.
Article IV The content and review principles of the grants are as follows:
- New students/ Freshmen: A grant of NT$20,000 to NT$40,000 shall be provided for the first semester based on the review outcome, and shall generally be fully applied toward tuition and miscellaneous fees.
2. Enrolled students
(1)A grant of NT$20,000 to NT$40,000 for one semester shall be provided based on the review outcome, and shall generally be fully applied toward tuition and miscellaneous fees.
(2)The grants shall be awarded for a maximum of five semesters.
- Submit application to the Office of Global Engagement. The Office of Global Engagement shall conduct a review committee which include the Dean or Director of related Departments and Offices. The grants shall be reviewed and approved in accordance with the Regulations and the documents submitted by the students. Relevant matters shall be handled in accordance with the Regulations.
4.This grant shall be reviewed and approved once every semester along with the applications.
Article V Application method, application period and required documents:
1. New students/ Freshmen
(1)Apply after receiving the acceptance letter.
(2)Submit relevant supporting documents such as the acceptance letter, application form, English language proficiency certificate and other documents that meet review criteria.
2. Enrolled students
(1)Apply three weeks before the beginning of each semester.
(2)Submit the application form, academic grades, academic performance review form and service performance review form.
Article VI The number of available student grants in each academic year shall be adjusted flexibly according to the CJCU budget.
Article VII Recipients that are withdrawn from school must return full amount of the grant that has been received.
Article VIII Grant recipients who are found to have forged or provided false information shall have their grant qualification revoked and handled in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Article XI The Regulations are approved by the Scholarship, Grants and Work Study Award Review Committee Meeting, and implemented upon the announcement by the University President; the same shall apply to amendments.
