Article I: The “Chang Jung Christian University Regulations Governing the Subsidy of International Student Exchanges” (hereinafter referred to as “This Regulation”) is instituted for subsidizing students of the university to visit partner universities in other countries or to study at foreign universities engaging in academic cooperation and exchanges with the university so as to develop further academic skill, foreign language proficiency, and broaden their global mindset. This Implementation "the Measures of CJCU for selecting and sending students to overseas research and scholarship grants" hereinafter will be referred as "the Measures"
Article II: Number of students, the content and amount of subsidy
- The funding under This Regulation is supported by a budget under the title of student subsidy and grant of the university, and the number of students and amount of subsidy will be conditioned by the university budget of the year.
- The funding under This Regulation is a matter of subsidy covering a round trip flight ticket of economy class, tuition, and living expenses.
- In consideration of the distance of respective regions of study, consumer price index, and the duration of study, the amount of subsidy for various regions is specified below:
- Subsidy of NT$30,000 in Europe, America and the Oceania.
- Subsidy of NT$20,000 in Asia.
- Subsidy of NT$10,000 in Mainland China (including Hong Kong and Macao).
- If the duration of study is less than 1 year or longer than 1 year, the amount of subsidy will be subject to adjustment in proportion to the duration of study.
Article III: Eligibility for application:
- Exsisting Sridents of the University.
- Students who passed the selection of the university in international student exchange and admitted by the partner universities in other countries or foreign universities engaging in academic cooperation and exchange with the university. The duration of exchange shall cover at least one semester.
- The academic scores of the applicants in the academic year prior to application must be above the passing mark, or among the top 50% of the class.
- Students in financial hardship shall have priority for consideration in subsidy.
Article IV: Application documents
Students eligible for application shall submit the following documents and an application with the Office of International Affairs by the application deadline:
- The application form for scholarship.
- An autobiography in Chinese and in English.
- A study plan for overseas exchange.
- A copy of transcript covering all academic years.
- Proof of language proficiency.
- Letters of recommendation from two full-time faculty members.
- Certificate of discharge from conscription service (male students only).
- Any other documents for facilitating the screening process.
Article V: Acceptance of application and the timing for fund appropriation
- Application will be accepted from January 15 to January 31 of each academic year.
- The subsidy will be effective in June for students going abroad in the first semester of the academic year, and in January of the next year for students going abroad in the second semester of the academic year.
Article VI: Review Procedure
- Information on application will be posted at the web page of this office on January 15 of each year for student application.
- The “International Academic Exchange Review Committee” of the university will proceed to the review and approve of the applications.
- Students accepted for subsidizing will be announced on the web page of this office.
Article VII: Revocation of subsidy and recovery of payment
If any of the following occurs to a subsidized student, the eligibility for subsidy will be revoked and the payment effected will be recovered:
- Students fail to enter into an administrative agreement with this office before departure.
- Students fail to complete the preliminary procedure before departure.
- Students changing their study plan and institution without prior approval.
- Students fail to report to designated schools for exchange within 30 days after arrival at the countries of study, or to submit the “Report on arrival” to the university after reporting to the schools for study, and failed to select related courses.
- Students condense the duration of study without prior approval or fail to return to Taiwan after the completion of study.
- Exchange students who violate the designated country's regulation while on training courses.
- Students fail to complete the procedure for reporting on returning to university after the study.
- Students act in defiance of the reputation of the university, in violation of applicable local laws in the country of study.
Article VIII: Any matter not mentioned in This Regulation shall be governed by related rules and regulations of the university and the administrative agreement on exchange students.
Article IX: This Regulation shall be subject to the review and approval of the International and Overseas Students Affairs Committee, Scholarship and Funding of Part-Time Work Students Review Committee of the university with reporting to the President of the University for Announcement so as to bring into full force. The same procedure is applicable to any amendment thereto.
