Highlights of the Department of Nursing at the Chang Jung Christian University
- High pass rate for the nursing licensure exam. The average pass rate of the past four years was 88% and reached 94% in 2016, much higher than the country average of 40-50%.
- The nursing resources lab in the Department of Nursing includes a smart technology ward, a human simulator for basic and advanced nursing technology and skills practice, and a health care information system to assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills in the ever-changing high-tech hospital environment.
- The smart technology ward includes obstetric, pediatric (to promote mother-child bonding), and intensive care units (emergency and critical care) for practicing critical thinking and nursing care in different clinical scenarios.
- Employment upon graduation with plenty of job opportunities. The Department of Nursing is affiliated with most of the medical centers and area and local hospitals in Taiwan, and these hospitals offer many job opportunities for graduates. In addition, many hospitals offer scholarships with job guarantees.
- The Department of Nursing is one of 18 bachelor’s and 14 master’s degree of nursing programs in Taiwan. We have 10 faculty members with PhD degrees and they each have many years of clinical experience. Five of them have worked as a head nurse, supervisor, or director of nursing in a hospital. All our faculty members have excellent academic and clinical abilities.
- The National Cheng Kung University Hospital, the Chi Mei Medical Center, and the Sinlau Hospital are the main hospitals used for clinical training. Many other hospitals also provide opportunities to the students for clinical learning. The different hospitals provide rich and diverse clinical experiences as well as potential employment opportunities.

- Overseas learning. To broaden the students’ academic and life perspectives to the global level, the Department of Nursing provides learning opportunities in Australia and India.
Opportunities for BSN graduates
Our graduates are highly demanded in the health care market and can work in various areas.
- In addition to the licensure examination, serving in the government requires a civil service examination. With additional certificates, graduates can work in government positions.
- New graduates typically start in hospitals. Clinics, community health departments, public health centers, health centers in factories and organizations, school health centers, and home care are other options after working in hospitals for a few years.
- Some work as community health organizers or home care nurses.
- There are 4 levels of registered nurses in the Taiwanese hospital system. Nurses who meet the requirements can advance from N1 to N4, undertaking more responsibility in providing health care and even potentially assuming leadership positions.
- BSN graduates can teach health and basic nursing courses in high school. MSN graduates can teach at a school of nursing as an instructor.
- Students can work in nursing, medicine, public health, pharmacology, and other health-related fields as a research assistant or a research nurse.
- With additional training, students can work as respiratory therapists or as a labor safety manager in the field of occupational safety.
- Registered nurses are eligible to run assisted living facilities, nursing homes, afterbirth care centers, and other long-term care facilities as a business owner. Other healthcare-related occupations are also available, such as medical news reporter, health-related translator, government health official, and representatives in drug companies, health equipment companies, health insurance companies, and health food companies.
- The curriculum in our program makes our students eligible to take the Nursing Board Examination in many countries such as the USA and Australia.
- Further Education :Graduates can apply for graduate school in Taiwan or abroad.
Opportunities for MSN graduates
- Graduate students who receive MSN’s can work in hospitals as advanced care nurses, such as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, infection control nurses, and case managers.
- Nurse administrators and nursing consultants.
- Clinical instructors and research project managers.
- Graduates can apply for PhD programs in Taiwan or abroad.
