Introduction to the program

    Taiwan has been known as the Kingdom of orchid. For many years, the export of orchid has reached more than one-hundred-million U.S.D. per year. Among all the orchid producers, the production in Tainan accounts for more than half of the total production in Taiwan. In 2004, Tainan even established Taiwan Orchid Plantation, in which the industry chain combined related business partners from the source of production to retailers. This is the largest orchid-growing greenhouse base. Because of this, Chang Jung Christian University cooperates with the orchid industry in Tainan and launched “Bachelor Degree Program of Orchid Industry Application”. In addition to teaching students basic orchid plantation techniques, the program also strives to develop orchid biotechnology and health products. We aim to create new value for Taiwan’s orchid industry.

    In order to instill knowledge, theory and application in the students in the Bachelor Degree Program of Orchid Industry Application, the program also boosts “experts and scholars’ experience sharing.” The program works with the orchid industry in Taiwan to invite those experts to share their experience in the industry. Through this, students can actually take part in the growing and marketing of orchid. The students will get to know the operation in the orchid industry. The program applies mobile learning to draw both students and enterprises closer to each other. We also found a new model of cooperation between enterprises and schools.
