Taiwanese and Japanese “Ying Yuan” Experience Exchanging Meeting Held by CJCU for Ecological Conservation
Grey-faced buzzards, Miyakojima's city bird, each year visit and celebrate the ROC's national birthday. Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Kenting National Park Headquarters, and Deputy Mayor of Miyakojima City of Nagahama in Japan jointly organized the “2020 Taiwanese and Japanese Ying Yuan Experience Exchanging Meeting” in the Headquarters for ecological conservation and invited the expert and member of Raptor Research Group and Wild Bird Society of Japan, Kugai Katsumori, to share knowledge about the grey-faced buzzards. Director Lai Hsin-Chih of Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources has been long observing the grey-faced buzzards through radar database and radar echo identification system.
International Standard Gymnasium Equipped with Sunlight Tubular System in CJCU
To incorporate with the government’s energy efficiency and emission reduction program, Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) introduced the "Sunlight Tubular System" (STS), to replace the original 48 metal halide lamps and made the gymnasium the first one in Taiwan that meets international standard. Each year, 20,832kWh of electricity consumption will be saved with an overall energy saving up to 65.96%. The STS collected and directed sunlight by channeling it into the internal system, transiting through a special highly efficient illumination device, and distributing evenly to areas indoor without consuming any energy.
Sustainable Living Lab of CJCU Improves Students' Problem-Solving Abilities
The Sustainable Living Lab of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) urges students to identify problems on campus and in communities, come out solutions and conduct tests according to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources (GEER) of CJCU collaborated with Industrial Technology Research Institute to make endeavors to solve energy problems in Taiwan. Additionally, the pneumatic monitoring system, automatic meteorological observation station, and power generation fan designed by the Department of GEER were also displayed. President of CJCU, Dr. Yung-Lung Lee believed the collaboration with the ITRI puts theory into practice and encourages innovative teaching and researches.
A Speech by Vice Minister of MOFA, Li-jey Tsao, in CJCU
CJCU invited Vice Li-jey Tsao of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to Mr. Wang Zibin Management Lectures to give a talk on "Diplomatic Experience Sharing- Broadening New Horizons" and to encourage students to participate in the diplomatic circle, the best way to safeguard Taiwan. MOFA colleagues accompanying Vice Minister from the Department of West Asian and African Affairs also had an exchange session with students from International College of Practice and Education for the Environment (ICPEE). Greeted by African songs, the MOFA delegation also visited Ecological Education Center where they witnessed internationalization and social responsibility achievements of CJCU.
The Thematic Film Awarded by the 2020 Online Expo, CJCU's USR "Green Community Roots & Shoots"
CJCU’s USR “Green Community Roots & Shoots Action – From Local to Global” won the specific thematic film award of the 2020 USR Online Expo this year under five categories including sustainable communities, health & welfare, industrial innovation, exceptional education, and international link. Winners will produce films at the length of five to eight minutes for the demonstration on the designated area of the online expo. According to the Project Convener, Professor Hung Ching-Yi, the program has focused on nearby communities and Er-Ren River. The film will feature canoe riding experience and African dining manners to present the river reborn.
CJCU’s SHS collaborates with GEOSAT to develop the Smart Mobile Disinfection Robot
The School of Safety and Health Sciences of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) collaborated with the Industrial Development & Investment Promotion Committee of Tainan City and GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc. held the Robot exhibition to unveil the application of AI technology for anti-COVID to jointly design the smart mobile disinfection robot equipped with a UVC light kit that passed CE and UL certifications. The robot can kill 99.9% of the virus within a 4-meter diameter and has autonomous mobile and timing functions. With the installation of programmed control, intelligent system, automated disinfection, and data visualization, it is an effective device to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Building a Smart Bilingual Campus at CJCU with Smart Digital Bulletin Board by Office and Library Information Services
In consideration of small layout, over-simplified function, difficulty reviewing of traditional hardcopy timetables posted outside classrooms, the Office of Library Information Office of Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) has developed the “Smart Digital Bulletin Board” that integrates functions including real-time classroom timetable information, campus news, and weather forecasts. For campus internationalization and convenience of international students, the Smart Digital Bulletin Board displays bilingual information in both Chinese and English. Students and teachers can easy read information such as course title and name of instructors in both languages, Chinese and English.
Commemorative Service Held by Chang Jung Christian University and Chang Jung Girls' High School for Pastor Thomas Barclay
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Chang Jung Girls' High School, and Memorial Park of Barclay jointly organized a commemorative worship at Tainan Christian Cemetery on October 5th for Pastor Thomas Barclay who devoted his ministry in southern Taiwan. President of CJCU, Dr. Yung-Lung Lee said that Pastor Barclay has dedicated his life to Taiwan and is a model of modern young people. Chang Jung Christian University will hold the "Getting to Know Pastor Thomas Barclay" Event at the Animal Carnival on November 21st to commemorate his contributions.
CJCU held the Welcome Party for the freshmen
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) held the welcome party for the freshmen at the gymnasium on the evening of October 27th. The party theme was "Developing Ambition and Passing the Midterm Exam," aiming to encourage the freshmen to develop their ambitions and do well in the midterm exam. The party hosts were Niko Hsu, He Jia-Qi, a Malaysian, from the Department of Mass Communication as well as Yoashi Nathan Thadeo, an African, from the International Program of Sustainable Development. Among them, Nathan hosted the party with fluent Mandarin Chinese, English, and Taiwanese and impressed all attendees.
