The Institute was accredited by the Ministry of Education in 2004, and accepted its inaugural MA class in Fall of 2005. It offers a dual language curriculum, with classes in both English and Chinese. “Taiwan is a hotbed of cutting-edge social science research!”
Our Goals:
1. To develop academic research, teaching activities and cultural movements with Taiwanese subjectivity.
2. To integrate humanities and social disciplines into local and international curriculum.
3. To cultivate students with humanistic professional knowledge, and Taiwan identity.

I. Research
(A) Leading Taiwanology (Taiwan Studies)
(B) Building up a Headquarter of Taiwan Studies
(C) Globalizing Taiwan Studies
II. Teaching
(A) GITS is dedicated teaching into all of Taiwan’s culture from a historical and contemporary perspective.
(B) GITS offers a wide range of multidisciplinary courses on Taiwan leading toward a Master’s degree. The full curriculum includes courses on Taiwan's history, culture, politics, society and religion.
Students’ Future career planning
Participate in civil service examinations in national administrative, cultural, and academic institutions.
Serve as a government agency or contractor for Taiwanese cultural authorities.
Served as a cultural reporter, editor, and business officer of & Mass Communications.
Served as a teacher of rural education.
Engage in community-related work.
Continue to pursue a doctorate.
