What can I do after graduation? |
A: | Our graduates enter a wide range of job markets. The following are just a few examples: |
1. Employment | |
Graduates could be employed at transportation-related companies, such as maritime transportation companies, shipping agencies, dock-handling companies, container terminals, freight forwarders, airlines, airports, logistics and warehouse companies, import & export trading companies, customs clearance companies, aviation and maritime transportation-insurance companies, transportation consultancy companies and customs. Work for government agencies could include the transportation division of national and local governments, the Ports Corporation, the Taiwan Railway Administration, etc. | |
2. Further study | |
Further studies could be undertaken in graduate institutes domestically or abroad, in various fields such as shipping management, maritime management, aviation management, transportation management (or the traffic engineering division in civil engineering), international business, business administration, management science, international trade and logistics, etc. | |
Q: | What is the current status of teachers in AMM? |
A: | 1. There are 14 full-time teachers in the Department: five professors, five associate professors and four assistant professors. |

Q: | I would like to know more about the courses related to aviation and maritime groups. |
A: | 1. The undergraduate program covers six domains (the detailed curriculum can be found in the Department website): |
(1) maritime and port management; | |
(2) airline and airport management; | |
(3) transportation and logistics; | |
(4) management science; | |
(5) computer skills; | |
(6) general education. | |
2. Students may decide to major in aviation or maritime from the beginning of their second year, based on their own interests. | |
Q: | Could I know more about the internship scheme of the Department? |
A: | The Department has a well-designed internship scheme. There are three types of internship: |
1. Summer vacation internship: The department has been working on a summer vacation internship scheme, enabling students to obtain more practical experience. Generally, second and third year students can apply for the internship for the following summer. The companies and organizations for the internship include government, airlines, airports, shipping companies, freight forwarding companies, logistics companies, etc. | |
2. One-semester employment internship: since the 2014 academic year the Department has been implementing an employment internship scheme. This industry internship during the second semester for 4th year students provides internship opportunities in different geographical areas of Taiwan. | |
3. One-year employment internship: in the 2016 academic year, a one-year employment internship scheme was introduced. This kind of industry internship requires students to participate during the whole 4th academic year. | |
Q: | Do the freshmen need to choose courses through the internet? |
A: | There is no need for the freshmen to choose their courses. Considering the students just arrive at CJCU and not familiar with the school system, the Department will arrange the courses for the first semester. The foreign language courses will be scheduled by the Foreign Language Center. Apart from those who have already done the credits and would like to redeem them, and those who would like to take courses later, please do not change your courses through the internet. Students will be able to choose their courses for the second semester. |
Q: | Are there any language criteria? |
A: | Since the 2006 academic year, students have been required to obtain the intermediate level of the general English Proficiency Test or equivalent. Detailed information can be found on the CJCU Language Education Center website. |
Q: | What are the requirements for the courses in the Department? |
A: | The minimum requirement for graduation is 128 credits, of which 28 compulsory credits from the university, 48 compulsory credits from the College, and 52 optional credits. Students must finish the courses in modules depending on their major (aviation or maritime). Details of curriculum and courses can be found from the website. |
Q: | How can I search for my course schedule? |
A: | Please go to the home page of the school website, click on “students”, enter “on-line course selection” or “search for course outlines”. |
Q: | Could I be a seafarer after graduation? |
A: | Graduates could work as an on-board clerk, but cannot be captain, or second or third officer. Neither can they be chief, second, third or fourth engineer. This is because the Department caters to developing maritime management expertise, not shipping crews or engineers. |
Q: | Does the Department offer any scholarships? |
A: | The Department offers the Excellent student scholarship, the Jian-Shuofeng low-income and excellent student scholarship, the Pacific Star Group excellent student scholarship, the Dolphin Logistics scholarship, the Foundation co. Ltd. Wang-Chunmu social charity welfare foundation scholarship, the student English language learning achievement scholarship, and the AMM scholarship (for emergency aids) etc. |
Q: | What are the teaching facilities in the Department? |
A: | The Department is located on the seventh and eighth floors of the third teaching building. The seventh floor is mainly for teachers’ offices, the Department administrative office, and the library. The eighth floor has AMM designated classroom and seminar rooms. |
Q: | Are there any support for students’ life and study? |
A: |
1. The Department organizes welcome parties in the North, Center and South of Taiwan, enabling freshmen get to know more about the Department. In addition, the Department’s student association also organizes a freshmen service team, helping freshmen with enrollment and accommodation, thus enabling freshmen to adapt well to the campus environment. |
