Lecture : Interpersonal Boundaries and Safe Sex
CJCU Counseling Center held a lecture for international students on April 1st, inviting Aileen Chu, bilingual mental health counselor, to talk about interpersonal boundaries and safe sex.
Aileen Chu talked about 5 benefits of boundary setting: contribution to others’ well-being, freedom from bad behaviors, increased self-esteem and self-respect, more respect from others, requirement for direct communication. She also showed some instances and taught students how to establish healthier boundaries.
Sexual harassment, an important issue between international and local students, was also a big part of Aileen Chu’s lecture, during which students had a heated discussion. Due to cultural differences, the boundaries they set differed from each other. Aileen Chu told them to learn how to respect others’ culture and get along with each other.
After the lecture, the vice president for student affair, Chia-lin Tu, hoped students could know more about setting healthy boundaries, increase their own self-worth, and develop a better relationship with others in college. Feel free to turn to our bilingual counselor in Counseling Center if you need someone to help you. Hope every student have a good learning environment in CJCU.
