Graduate Institute of Taiwan Studies

  • The Institute was accredited by the Ministry of Education in 2004, and accepted its inaugural MA class in Fall of 2005. It offers a dual language curriculum, with classes in both English and Chinese. “Taiwan is a hotbed of cutting-edge social science research!”

Department of Translation and Interpretation Studies(with Master program)

  • The DTIS seeks to equip students with basic‑ to high‑level translation/ interpretation skills, including a primary foreign language proficiency in English and secondary ability in an additional foreign language (Japanese, French, German, or Spanish). Its goal is to produce graduates who can meet the increasing demand for T&I skills in fields such as government, commerce, science and technology, tourism, meetings and conventions, and education.

  • The Department of Applied Japanese devotes itself to the cultivation of political, economic, social and cultural understanding of Japan,  as well as Japanese language ability to respond to the demand for Taiwanese and Japanese exchanges. Students will be equipped with good foreign language abilities as well as the professional knowledge required for research and teaching.

  • The aim of our department is to provide students a philosophical education that they can then use for social involvement. Classes are thus designed in an interdisciplinary manner, giving students a solid philosophical education that helps them find what they can give back to the community at large. Our graduates are then able to find employment in any number of fields, using optimal analytical skills to communicate effectively and resolve problems.

  • Star Radio is a learning environment for any student from any department of CJCU who wants to be a DJ. Here, he or she can learn about radio program planning, program hosting, news-casting, equipment operating, music mixing, activity planning and execution, etc.
