Holistic education emphasizes pastoral care, viewing "people" as "whole individuals" and nurturing them like a shepherd caring for his flock with patience, care, and concern, just as Jesus cared for his disciples. In the field of life education at Chang Jung Christian University, pastoral care combined with holistic education reenacts the way Jesus cared for and nurtured students' lives, paying attention to their academic and personal lives with love, accompanying them, conversing with them, counseling them, and encouraging them to integrate knowledge and life, to understand the unity of knowledge and action, to pursue truth and demonstrate love, to enhance vitality, and to grow into "whole individuals" who care for others, society, and the environment, recognize and connect with the world to fulfill their responsibilities as global citizens.
