The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

This passage is taken from the Book of Proverbs in the Christian Bible. Proverbs is one of the wisdom books in the Bible, recording the words of King Solomon, known for his wisdom. Despite being a wise king, he humbly attributes his intelligence and wisdom to the fear of the Lord. In the Christian faith, the Lord is the Creator, the one true God, and since all things are created by Him, He is the beginning of wisdom. When people are willing to humbly seek and come to know this holy Creator, they become recipients of the source of wisdom and understanding, for the Holy One is the eternal question and answer for all seekers.
