〔Office of the Chaplain、Secretariat Public Relations Group union report〕
Office of the Chaplain of Chang Jung Christian University held the "Adulthood Service for Students 2020" on the 11th, inviting Chairman of Board Szu-Hai Yang, the Founder Jen-Chun Hwang, President Yung-Lung Lee, and Vice President Huey-Min Sun to attend this service, blessing and encouraging students, emphasizing that as an adult, you must know how to thank your parents The nurturing grace must not only be responsible to oneself, but also have a sense of mission to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. As this year coincides with the 80th birthday of Prof. Yunus and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Yunus Social Business Center in Taiwan, Yen-Hui Lin, an assistant of the Yunus Social Busniess Center, was specially arranged to share the story of Prof. Yunus and explain the spirit and practice of social responsibility. And recorded a video of everyone singing a happy birthday song together and gave it to Prof. Yunus to celebrate his birthday.
The difference between this year's Adulthood Service for Students and the past is to encourage students to achieve, "Fear of God, Love people, Cherishe Objects, Do to Carry Out and Thanksgiving", the five core values of the spirit of Chang Jung Christian University through participating in various activities. And write down the records of various activities involved, and made all records into a personal "Growing Diary at CJCU". After all pastors appraisal, those with outstanding performances will be awarded with awards to encourage them, and print out the “Growing Diary at CJCU” for them to be a wonderful proof of their adulthood and the most beautiful memories of their growth across life.
In the "Words from School Mentors", Chairman of Board Szu-Hai Yang shared that the beginning of adulthood in Israel is to share work at home, and encourage students to be a good earth manager. The founder, Jen-Chun Hwang, also encouraged the students to practice themselves and find themselves in the process of life with a book "我是不是我的我".
President Yung-Kyng Lee also quoted Matthew 11:19 to mention that "But wisdom is proved right by her actions." to encourage students to face the environment and have wisdom to judge and act, and such wisdom must come from the wisdom given by the Holy Spirit. After being educated, you will have your own ideas, and think about how to gain all kinds of wisdom in your life. Therefore, the principal also encourages students to learn how to think, not to be limited by the framework, to have the spirit of criticism and questioning, and not to oversimplify, but to think in the details and let the thinking diversify. He said that running Chang Jung Christian University is a reflection of diversification. For example, students come from all over Taiwan or even from all over the world, and more foreign students will continue to be added in the future. There will be different thinking from different places. Everyone learns and learns together, tolerates and respects each other, and stimulates and grows with each other.
President Yung-Lung Lee said that Chang Jung Christian University won the first prize of the USR "Eco-Community Group" of the University of Foresight this year, which is the greatest affirmation of the school ’s long-term protection of Erren River. He encouraged students to step out of the school and not only improve their ability, but also shoulders take social responsibility and care for the world.
Rev. Dr. James Wu, the Dean of Office of the Chaplain, said that although it was considered whether to stop the Adulthood Service due to the epidemic situation, considering that the Adulthood Service for Students and the Foot Washing Ceremony are very unique etiquettes of Chang Jung Christian University, the school does not want to let students lose the opportunity to experience and witness growth because of the epidemic situation. Therefore decided to hold as usual. Rev. James Wu used the scripture of 1 Timothy 4:12 to encourage students that adults should understand gratitude and dedication, receive the gospel and deliver the gospel to those around them, and know how to love others and care for the community, not out of utility, but reflect the value of the universe.
