〔Report by Public Relations Team〕

2020/11/26 Christmas Tree Lighting Service and Flea Market The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Service at CJCU launched at 6 pm on the 26th at Shenxing Bell Park. This year’s theme is "Rebirth and Hope". We used the method of overthrowing the wall to symbolize the victory over darkness. When the wall collapsed, the Christmas lights came on to symbolize rebirth and hope in the light. In front of the Shenxing Bell, an iron sculpture of the main lamp designed by Xue Mingjing from the Department of Digital Content Design was placed to tell the story of the "Nativity of Jesus". This year, a large white ribbon lighting installation was installed on the Christmas tree to show the courage and action to say no to gender violence.

During the event, Haipu Presbyterian Church sang "There is a gift", and the melodious song warmed everyone. In addition, awards were also given to the winners of the iron sculpture design of the main lamp for Christmas decoration. Chen Jianbang, assistant professor of the School of Information and Design of CJCU, pointed out that in the future, the iron sculpture design of the main lamp for Christmas decoration will be held every year. After Christmas, this work will be placed at the side entrance next to the First Teaching Building. The accumulation of long-term works will become a corridor of Bible stories. As a Christian university, this design will be an important entrance image presentation.

Chen Jianbang also stated that, except for the Christmas tree arranged by the Office of the Chaplain, the rest of the Christmas decorations are in charge by the School of Information and Design. There are also designs of elk, hut, and gingerbread man on the spot. The Christmas decoration is mainly in line with the curriculum design of the Institute. Different grades have different arrangements according to their abilities: the freshman makes flashing trees, the second year for different Christmas design installations, and the third year can be used for the Bible story main lamp iron sculpture design competition , In a step-by-step manner, cultivate students' design and exhibition abilities, and also achieve the teaching goal of combining information and design by the School of Information and Design.

Same as previous years, this year's lighting event also held flea market. All the sales proceeds will be donated to the "Higher Education Deep Cultivation-Disadvantaged Scholarship". The proceed was NT 9,064 dollars this year. The Student Life and Residential Service Section also took out "LOST & FOUND" long-unclaimed items for a charity sale, raising a total of NT1,089 dollars, and this part of the proceed donated to the "Ren-Ai Fund."
