Date:2020/10/28〔Reported by Secretary〕
To commemorate the construction of the Shen-Hsing Bell, which was donated by Mr. Shen-Hsing Chuang, the uncle of Dr. Jen-Chun Hwang , the founder of CJCU, the school set the 28th of each month as the Shen-Hsing Day, and the bell will ring in the Shen-Hsing Bell Park. At 9:28 on the morning of October 28th, the Office of the Chaplain and the teachers and students of the Department of Theology rang the first bell of Shen-Hsing Day, conveying peace and blessings through the bell ringing.
The Shen-Hsing Bell was made of white H-shaped steel as the main material. The design concept is based on nine rectangular shaped doors, using different heights and overlapping front and back to shape the lines of the cross; the H-shaped steel is inlaid with lights, and the campus will form a highlight at night. . A French swinging bronze bell weighing 85 kilograms was installed at the top of the highest square door in the middle, which can hold bell ringing ceremonies for important festivals or events. The floor directly below the bronze bell is inlaid with an Mr. Zhuang Shenxing's foot model. The periphery is surrounded by three fish representing Christian patterns, and the inscriptions on it are "Shen", "Hsing" and "Bell".
The president of CJCU, Dr. Yung-Lung Lee, said that the school had held an opening thanksgiving service on September 28. At that time, the 28th of each month was also designated as a Shen-Hsing Day. Through ringing the bell, all the funds raised will be used for bursaries for disadvantaged students. Today is the first time to ring the bell. I hope that through the transmission of the bell, the school’s love and care will be given to more people.
