[Reported by The Office of the Chaplain]
The Office of the Chaplain of CJCU held the 2024 Student Adulthood Service - Life of "AI" (Love) on May 6, with 65 teachers and students participating. The worship and praise team started the overture with beautiful musical instruments and singing. This year, Professor Ching-Huey Chen from the Department of Nursing was specially invited to share and encourage the students with words of blessing on the meaning of adulthood and the way it should be - having the ability to think independently, considering others, and having the courage to take responsibility. The professor Chen said that today's AI artificial intelligence has indeed brought great impact and changes to life, but in the huge data transformation, it cannot generate the emotional expressions that are indispensable to human beings. Therefore, she encouraged students to work hard to pursue a meaningful life. What's more important is that you must know how to love and be loved in order to create a happy life; and use love to make yourself and the people around you happy, and become an actor of love.
Dr. Jen-Chun Hwang, Chairman of Board of CJCU, who attended the meeting, praised the performance of the bell troupe and the violin club, and shared his experience by receiving a gift for his Adulthood "a pair of leather shoes" he received from his uncle when he was 16 years old (it was a very expensive gift at the time). Chairman of Board Jen-Chun Hwang had always encouraged students to pay more attention to our own country and current social affairs, hoping that students will become the pillars of the country in the future.
President Yung-Lung Lee used the story of "Simba the Lion King" to encourage students to face the future bravely. The school is creating an environment for students to be trained in extraordinary comfort zones and training students with effective planning. Students should be prepared take good care of yourself and change yourself with full vision to become a blessing to others. The priesident also encouraged students to participate in related activities such as World Earth Day Day Walking, Biking to Wushantou Reservior, Mountain to Sea National Greenway and other related activities.
Then the students successively crossed the Door to Adulthood, which represents "wisdom and courage", walked on the red carpet, accepted the crowning ceremony from their teachers in front of the stage, and wrote "A Letter to the Future Me" cards to bring dreams and expectations for their future; The students also expressed their willingness to take an oath to fulfill their responsibilities and obligations for self-growth by taking an oath; the Handbell Choir also rang the bell of adulthood for all the Adulthood students.
During the Adulthood student, honorary awards were also awarded to students who actively participated in activities which held by Eco-Center (World Earth Day and Biking to Wushantou), and students who participated in Walking in Taijiang, the Mountian to Sea National Greenway held by the Office of the Chaplain; this time, certificates and gifts were also awarded to students who made "Growing Diary in CJCU. Finally, the pastors prayed individually blessings for those students, hoping that they would all have a bright future. In addition to receiving the certificates of Adulthood, the students also received blessing cards from their instructors. It was grateful that two instructors came to bless the students in person this year.
Through the baptism of the Adulthood sevice, we sincerely wish these students to move towards a new stage of life with a mature attitude, wisdom and courage, and "love". Just like the song "Make Me a channel of Your Peace" played by the student handbell troupe, we hope these students can live a life of love, have inner peace, and have the courage to pursue their dreams.
