Referral

When teachers come across a special situation of the student which needs professional intervention, fill in the referral form and make a referral to the relevant professionals, such as life tutors, registered professional nurse, vocational assistant teachers, counselors.

Procedures:

1. Teachers fill up the referral form in E-system, briefly describing the problem and file it out.
2. Teachers shall contact the student for case referral before registering.
3. If the case is urgent, teachers can first contact the referral unit (student life and residential services section, lecturer, career development center, health services division, counseling center) and fill in the referral form later to protect the rights of students.

Physical health counseling (referral to registered professional nurse, nutritionist)

• Special disease attack
• Poor chronic disease control
• Infectious disease prevention
• Smoking addiction
• Demand for healthy body weight 
• Suspected food poisoning

Psychological health counseling (referral to counselors)

• A potential danger of harming or self-injury
• Unexpected pregnancy, sexual harassment, sexual assault
• Domestic violence, substance abuse
• Abnormal mental state
• Experience crisis or stressful events
• Serious difficulties in adapting to school and affecting their lives and interpersonal functions
• Being emotional or out of control

For psychological health problems such as

1. The immediate danger of harming or self-injury
2. Acute mental illness attack
3. Serious emotional or behavioral out of control
4. Sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence
5. Other conditions that evaluated as critical by teachers
