Sustainable Development for the Environment
- Teaching Objective
- In 2015, many countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development (SD) goals. The aims of this course are:
- Understand the backgrounds and current standing of the 17 SD goals.
- Identify the problems of SD in one’s own country.
- Reflect on one’s own attitude and behavior and find ways to resolve any inconsistencies with the goals.
- Develop the capability to advocate for the SD goals.
- In 2015, many countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development (SD) goals. The aims of this course are:
- Arrangement of teaching schedule
- Students are introduced to various SD problems and solutions by visiting local farms, villages, parks, etc.
- Students are divided into 9 groups:
- Each group collects information on the background and current condition on one of the following 9 SD goals and then gives an oral report: No. 2, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.
- Each group designs an action plan to promote the goal. Two of the plans getting highest votes are executed on/off campus.
- Activities that may be considered include:
- Exhibition booth
- Poster Exhibition
- Survey
- Action drama
- Soapbox Speech
- Competition
- Question/Answer contest
- Oral/Written report
- Art/Graphic/Comic work
- Fundraising (lunchbox, dinner party, concert, etc.)
