Q1: |
Why should I choose the IPSD? |
A1: |
- Dr. Jane Goodall is our spiritual leader, and the Jane Goodall Institute has been promoting the preservation of animals and the environment for many decades. Through the Jane Goodall Institute Taiwan, you will be inspired by her passions and learn to do the same.
- We welcome students from all over the world, ensuring that your learning experiences will be multicultural and your interpersonal connections international.
- Members of our faculty have had extensive experiences in teaching and promoting sustainable development in Taiwan for decades. You will be able to observe and learn from their work directly.
- Sustainability is a foundational principle at Chang Jung Christian University, and we are committed to educating students who will be at the forefront of the sustainability movement. You will have the opportunity to be involved with our many sustainable development projects on/off campus, and take the experiences, along with your ideas and ideals, back to your countries and apply them to your work and everyday life.

Q2: |
Why are the three modules "Watershed Management", "Climate Change and Adaptation", and "Community Development"? |
A2: |
- The three modules are selected because of our three faculty members, Drs. Ching-Yi Horng, Hsin-Chih Lai, and Chao-Hsing Huang have extensive knowledge and experience in the three sustainable development issues. They have also conducted many projects funded by central and local governments and private companies. Thus, with their guidance, the IPSD students will be able to get involved with their projects, observe and learn at the forefront as sustainability advocates.
- The module of "Community Development" is designed to coordinate with the construction of the “Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Eco-Educational Center" in CJCU. This EcoCenter will be built in a cooperative fashion, hence serving its educational purpose through the building process, starting from May to October 2018. Do not worry about how the module will be run after the EcoCenter construction is finished, because its design allows easy remodeling and expansion when needed, its sustainable building materials and bamboo furniture require timely replacements, and its green roofs and walls, along with the landscaping and flood detention area, provide continuous opportunities for action and service learning.
