"Clean air, one for all, all for one", activity for Environment Day
The 5th of June each year marks World environment day, World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. This year on the 5th of June, Chang Jung Christian University became the first institution in Taiwan to register on the United Nations World environment day website and took a commitment to action for the whole world to see.
The internet platform has become a global action tool for the United Nation to raise awareness for the world environment. On the 5th of June each year since 1974 the United Nations has called upon the world to take part in various environmental campaigns.
The theme for 2019 is to fight air pollution under the slogan “Beat Air Pollution” and the host for the campaign is China. In addition to being the first institution to register for this years campaign, on the 5th of June teachers and students from Chang Jung Christian University’s International Program for Sustainable Development and the Department of Applied Philosophy joined together for a drum parade on campus to call upon all teachers and students to join the world in fighting air pollution together.
Dr. Lee, the President of CJCU states: To take social responsibility is the spirit of our University. With the establishment of the International College of Practice and Education for the Environment and the International Program for Sustainable Development which has admitted students from all over the world, CJCU has taken concrete action to cooperate with the world environment movement.
The activity was scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. in front of the school administration building. In addition to drum performances by international students, there were various performances symbolizing environmental protection along the way. The parade ended in front of the eco-education center, where the students reported the warnings of environmental pollution in English and Chinese. The activity ended with international students and local students taking an oath together on this year's theme "clean air, one for all, all for one!"
