Mission
The IPSD is a program for students who want to be active participants in building a sustainable society to make the world a better place. We seek students with a genuine care for nature, and an eagerness to make a difference in the world. We empower students to be good Earth citizens and leaders in the struggle to survive the changes coming to our planet.
We aim to give our students the interdisciplinary knowledge to deal with environmental change. We focus on systematic and critical thinking and encourage students to find creative solutions. We provide hands-on, interactive and student-centered programs, which, through fieldwork and community action, build a grassroots commitment to a socially and environmentally sustainable world. Students who are dedicated to working toward finding new solutions to social and ecological sustainability problems and interested in committing to community service are most welcome.
Our program aims to:
- Recruit international students, especially from less-developed countries, on the recommendation of local offices of the Jane Goodall Institute around the world.
- Equip students with knowledge and experience of environmental sustainability, civil action, cultural diversity, creativity, and leadership.
- Engage students in the Roots & Shoots actions for sustainability as part of our program of action learning activities.
- Realize the spirit of Roots & Shoots to make the world a better place.
