Academic Requirements and Authentication
Undergraduate Programs: At least a high school diploma or equivalent
Master’s Programs: At least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
PhD Programs: At least a Master’s Degree or equivalent
The applicants can use the unauthenticated the highest diploma and transcripts to apply. However, if the applicants have admitted, the verified highest diploma and authenticated transcripts by R.O.C. must be provided.
- For those expecting to graduate this year and are yet to obtain their diplomas, submit a copy of the student ID card showing the year of study and the official Certificate Of Expected Graduation from your current school (you must receive your academic documents before August for the September entry, or before January for the February entry).
- If you obtained your degree in Taiwan in the previous academic system, you can directly provide the Chinese version of th graduation certificate.
When reviewing one's admission application, if any of the required documents (i.e. Degree diploma, or other documents required by CJCU) have not been authenticated by an overseas mission, or by an agency established or designated by the Executive Yuan, or by a private organization commissioned by the Executive Yuan, and the university has any doubts about them, it may request authentication by an overseas agency. If documents that have already been authenticated raise any doubts, CUCU may request examination of the documents. In accordance with the Regulations Regarding Internationla Studnets Undertaking Studies in Taiwan (Article 7)
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)、International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)and etc. are considered reference documents only. Applicants are required to submit their certificate of highest qualification earned and academic transcripts.
Academic credentials:
- Academic credentials from the Mainland Area: must be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Academic Credentials for the Mainland Area.
- Academic credentials from Hong Kong or Macao: must be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations Governing the Examination and Recognition of Educational Qualifications from Hong Kong and Macao.
- Academic credentials from other areas:
- Academic credentials issued by an Overseas Taiwan School or a school for Taiwan business people in the Mainland Area must be regarded as equivalent to academic credentials issued by an educational institution of the same level in Taiwan.
- Academic credentials from overseas other than those referred to the preceding two items must be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Academic Credentials for Institutions of Higher Education. However, academic credentials issued by a campus or branch that a foreign educational institution has established in the Mainland Area must be notarized by a notary public there and authenticated by an agency established or designated by the Executive Yuan, or by a private organization commissioned by the Executive Yuan.
Q. How can an international student have thei r educational qualifications anddocumentary records verified for admission requirements if there is no overseas mission of the ROC in the student's country?
A. If the country where the Overseas Chinese or Foreign Student resides does not have an overseas mission of the ROC, a student’s educational qualifications and documentary records obtained in a foreign country must be submitted to an overseas mission that also serves the student’s country.
